| Population 216 There's a town -- a little lakeside town called Padenville There's a sign that they got on the courthouse lawn Says "215" for every woman, child, and man there But there's a line through the five that's been spray painted on And by that line through the five sprayed in fire engine red That same someone went and wrote a six instead Now the sign says "Welcome--Welcome To Padenville" "Where Life Is So Sweet" Yeah the sign says, "Welcome--Welcome to Padenville" "Population 216" There's a can -- a can of spray paint in my pocket And I know they're gonna figure out it's me And they won't be too happy at the courthouse But someday I'll pay, just you wait and see Oh, but how could I be blamed, when you'd do the same yourself? Oh, believe me, if you felt the way I felt Now the sign says "Welcome--Welcome To Padenville" "Where Life Is So Sweet" Yeah the sign says, "Welcome--Welcome to Padenville" "Population 216" 'Cause look at that little pink blanket Look at those little cute hands And the name on the little wristband that says she's mine I hold her up to the nursery window so she can see the sign And the sign says "Welcome--Welcome To Padenville" And oh... ain't she sweet? Yeah the sign says, "Welcome--Welcome to Padenville" "Population 216" Copyright Jeffrey L. Stillman |
